Check Your TPR Valve
A resident of Wareemba has been seriously injured in an incident where his ageing electric water heater has fallen on top of him while he was gardening next to it.
Police, fire & ambulance were called to the scene to assist the man who was trapped beneath his 400kg+ water heater and he was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries.
Chiswick Plumbing was called to help remove & replace the water heater and also to help determine why the heater fell over in the first place.
It was found that the water heater had a blocked T&PR valve, which allowed excess pressure to build within the tank, distorting the base and causing the heater to fall over.
IMPORTANT: Have your T&PR valve replaced at least every 5 years (or more frequently in areas of high water deposits).
