Have you ever been laying in bed at night only to be kept awake by the drip... drip... drip... SO annoying, right? A dripping tap is not only annoying but it is also costly and can lead to bigger problems if not attended to in a timely manner.
There are many reasons as to why a tap will start to leak. The age of the tap is the most common cause. Over time the different parts inside the taps will start to deteriorate and perish, in turn, they will begin to leak. A leaking tap repair is made up of many parts and components including tap washers, the o ring, jumper valves, isolation valve, and even the cover plate.
Here at Chiswick Plumbing we have been providing a professional service all over Sydney since 1983. This includes clearing blocked drains, servicing hot water systems, water flow testing, toilet repairs & installations and of course... fixing a tap that is leaking. No matter what plumbing problems you face, we have the solution for you.
If you are looking for great customer service, plumbing work that is second to none and a friendly smile? Look no further... We are the best plumbers to fix a leaking tap!
Did You Know…
Taps may look like a simple Plumbing fixture from the outside, but they are made up of several internal components; all of which deteriorate over time. The washer is often the first suspect of a leaking tap, but as time goes by other parts will deteriorate and fail without attention.
Our professional Chiswick Plumbing servicemen will diagnose the cause of your leaking taps and recommend the most cost effective solution – whether it be simply replacing the old washers, replacing them with special water saving valves, or carrying out a full tap service.
Did you know that a leaking tap is the number 1 cause of water wastage in Sydney? Sometimes we take our water supply for granted and let the leaking tap go on for a little longer than we should.
There are a lot of taps in our home... even some that we forget about as they are hidden behind appliances like out dishwasher or washing machine and don't forget about the back and front yard taps! Once they start leaking it's a good indication that its time for them to have a tap service in order to get them back to like-new condition.
Depending on the type and age of your tap, our serviceman may recommend a full tap service to get your taps back to good working order. This service includes shutting of the main water supply and carrying out one or more of the following:
There are a lot of different types and style of taps that are available from the local hardware store or bathroom retailer. Generally speaking, a tap with a washer attached will be more prone to leaking rather than a tap with a ceramic disc or a mixer tap.
If you are in need of a full tap replacement, give one of our team at Chiswick Plumbing a call and we can guide you in the right direction so you can get the tap best suited to you!
What is that loud banging when I turn a tap off?
Water Hammer is a condition that occurs in homes & buildings with copper water pipes and can have the following symptoms:
Water hammer can be reduced or eliminated completely by one or more methods, however due to there being no single cause, it can often take several attempted methods to pinpoint the cause. High pressure, loose pipes or faulty plumbing components/connections can all cause water hammer.
You shouldn’t ignore water hammer as it lead to more serious problems, such as:
In every Sydney house and business we have what is called a Pressure Limiting Valve (PLV) which restricts to flow of what to your home to 500kpa. If you don't have a PLV installed then the pressure of the water supply to your plumbing system will cause damage to your plumbing, fixtures and residence.
But how is this related to a leaking tap? Well, if your PLV is starting to fail and in need of replacement, then the pressure of the water going to your taps will increase. This will then start to put pressure on the tap washer, tap bonnet, o ring, tap handles and jumper valves causing the tap to leak.
If you have ever had a leaking tap and tried putting in a new washer yourself, only to find that didn't solve the issue, then there may be something else going on like a faulty PLV or the need for greater tap repairs.
Lucky for you, our team at Chiswick Plumbing carry out tap repairs on a daily basis and are confident that we will fix your tap issues for you instantly. So, whether they are the bathroom, laundry, kitchen or garden taps, give our friendly plumber a call and enjoy the super reliable service provided.
Is it time to replace the taps in your kitchen, laundry or bathroom? Whether your taps haven broken down or you are wanting to replace old taps for a more modern look or need a tap that suits your lifestyle, there are so many different designs to choose from while ensuring they meet the water efficiency test compliance. At Chiswick Plumbing, we only use products that meet these standards!
The 3 main types of taps you can install are:
This style of tap is commonly found in the kitchen. This is when there is one lever that control the flow of water that comes from the tap and you move the leaver to the left of the right to then adjust to the desired temperature. There are different style of mixer taps you can get including the monobloc, disc and ball type mixer taps.
This is the most common and traditional style of tap found in most homes and is more of an older style. When you think of your traditional 'hot' and 'cold' taps, this is what they are. They are usually mounted on either side of the spout at the basin or bath and have separate control over hot and cold water flow.
1/4 turn taps use a ceramic disc and only require a turn of 90 degrees to be at full flow. The benefit of this is that due to the little amount of turn needed means that if you have arthritis, are elderly or have a weaker grip, these will be much more user friendly. 1/4 turn taps are commonly used in the garden and for the laundry washing machine.
